Pink Shirt Day Cupcakes
This Friday 16th May is Pink Shirt Day and we're selling cupcakes to fundraise for this great cause. ✨
By taking part in Pink Shirt Day, you're doing your part to eliminate bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting kindness and inclusion.
You can help by purchasing a box of cupcakes or you can make a donation directly to my fundraising page here: https://fundraise.pinkshirtday.org.nz/sharna-griffiths
We will be donating 50% of proceeds to The Mental Health Foundation who will deliver tools that support schools, workplaces, and communities to create safe environments where bullying can't thrive.
Why it matters
Bullying in Aotearoa is a real problem.
We have the third-highest rate of school bullying out of 36 OECD countries and one in five workers feels discriminated against or bullied at work.
Our rainbow (LGBTQIA+) communities face even higher rates of bullying. Research from 2021 shows that over one in five transgender students (23%) said that they had been bullied at school weekly or more often in the past year, compared to 5% of cis gender students.
Those who are bullied are far more likely to experience mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.
We need your help to change this
By donating to Pink Shirt Day, you’re helping create a kinder, more inclusive Aotearoa where everyone feels safe, valued, and unafraid to be themselves.
